Born in the State of Rio Grande de Sul, extreme South of Brazil, on February 18, 1948, he grew up in Santiago, Alegrete and Sao Borja, near of Brazilian border with Argentina. Baptized as "Tupa Gomes Correa", several years later he got judicial approval for amending his name to Victor Aquino.
